'Contemporary Still Lifes', published in The Artist

I am delighted to give you a preview of  'Contemporary Still Lifes' - my new article published this month in 'The Artist' magazine (August 2020 Edition) - Written in Lockdown, the article explores painting subjects close to home. This has been good for the soul with still life possibilities coming from flowers in the garden.

'Peter Graham is a painter who draws his inspiration from his travels around Europe and America- sadly curtailed at the moment. But he and now we can dream of what we are missing. Still life however becomes even more apt.. together these three painters represent Glasgow School of Art in its glorious years of the 1950s to 1970s.'

Painting in Le Touquet with Peter Graham

Virtual Trip to Le Touquet

Around this time of year I normally drop in to Le Touquet on the Opal Coast of Northern France. It has a wonderful art deco atmosphere as a beach town with delightful restaurants like Perard, and an expanse of golden sands and dunes. Here is a glimpse of the coast alongside a couple of paintings created on the magnificent beach - I hope you get the feel of the place and needless to say, I cannot wait to get back …hope to see you there!

Patron HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay

The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour exhibition is a roll call of  must see Scottish Painters - highlights include  magnificent abstracts  from John Kingsley, reminiscent of Robert Motherwell and a classic watercolour of Klosters  from His Royal Highness Prince Charles, reflecting his early tuition from Edward Seago. The works are on show in The Scottish National Gallery on The Mound,  designed in the neoclassical style by William Henry Playfair in 1859 and one of the most important  and beautiful landmarks in Edinburgh.
